BIG DIAMOND RACEWAY PREPARED FOR PIONEER POLE BUILDINGS COALCRACKER WEEKEND…BY GARY LILECK

- ~ Coalcracker Weekend, sponsored by Pioneer Pole Buildings, is just around the corner at Big Diamond Raceway. Racing takes place on Friday September 3 and Sunday September 5. The seventh presentation of the Sportsman Coalcracker 50 is slated for Friday. This event historically draws a wide variety of Sportsman competitors from different speedways. The 50-lap feature will pay $2000 to win. Big Diamond regular Mike Loney of Taylor is the defending Coalcracker 50 champion. The annual Penske Racing Shocks 358 Modified non-winner’s race

GODOWN CAPTURES FIRST BIG DIAMOND VICTORY OF THE YEAR ON FINAL LAP…BY GARY LILECK

- ~ On a last lap restart, Ryan Godown moved into the race lead and captured his first 358 Modified feature victory of the season Friday night at Big Diamond Raceway. The Ringoes NJ based racer passed young 15-year old competitor Michael Weinert, who came so close to winning a first career Modified feature. Craig Whitmoyer of Hamburg took the lead on lap 6 of the Sportsman feature and cruised to a dominant victory, his second of the season. Kevin Olenick of Forestville was victorious in the Roadrunner feature, despite losing power steering

LAUBACH NARROWLY DEFEATS DESANTIS IN EXCITING FINISH AT BIG DIAMOND RACEWAY…BY GARY LILECK

- ~ Rick Laubach of Hellertown topped Meme DeSantis by a close margin in Friday’s 25-lap 358 Modified feature at Big Diamond Raceway. By virtue of his triumph, Laubach became the 11th different winner of the season. Mike Mammana of Nazareth captured his second 20-lap Sportsman win of the year, and Tom Hablett of Schuylkill Haven grabbed a season’s first 20-lap Wooden Keg Roadrunner feature win. The fifth annual Pepsi Challenge for 358 Modifieds was won by Billy Pauch Jr. of Frenchtown NJ. Big Diamond Raceway swings right back into action
